News Foothill Starts Season with a BangThe season is off to a good start. On Wednesday the team competed against Highland and Garces and did well. The boys won a close one against Highland and won easily against Garces to start off an undefeated season. The girls easily won against Highland but lost a close one to Garces. Many of the athletes had a great meet. The girls swept the shot put which was won by Ruth Juarez and the boys swept the pole vault, high jump and the long jump. Zion Wulfelkuehler and Leshay Alexander won the high jump and Justin Leathers won the 100m, the long jump and the triple jump. Natalie Fernandez won the 1600 and placed 3rd in the 800 against Garces and 1st against Highland and 2nd in the 3200. Kym Becker placed 2nd in the 100m hurdles, 1st in the 300 hurdles and helped the 4X400 to a second place finish. Karla Murillo placed second in both the triple and long jump. The biggest surprises were Nathan Vance and Tiffany Telles. Nathan ran the 300 hurdles for the first time and placed second and has the 4th best time in league now and Tiffany placed 3rd in the shot and improved besting her previous mark by over a foot. There were many other great performances and for most of these athletes their marks are leading the league. The Sprints coach Tike Miller and the throws coach Josh Rahberger are doing great things with our kids. |
