UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA/California State University REQUIREMENTS Required: a “B” average in the following A-G requirements (with no grade lower than a "C") All courses must be college prep or GATE / IB

REQUIRED TESTING:
STATE COLLEGES & STATE UNIVERSITIES ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Same entrance requirements as University of California. REQUIRED TESTING: SAT or ACT plus entrance level math (ELM) and reading placement (EPT) tests are administered. COMMUNITY COLLEGES No subject entrance required; high school graduation; 18 years of age or G.E.D. (Student with lower than a 2.0 G.P.A. enters on probation.) REQUIRED TESTING: No entrance test is required. Placement tests are required. It is recommended that they be taken during the spring at the college. PRIVATE COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES Private colleges and universities normally require the SAT and ACT for admission. Course requirements for a specific college are found in the catalog for that college. The Foothill High Career Center contains catalogs from many public and private institutions. SCHOLARSHIP TESTS NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP: The PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) should be taken in October of the junior year for Scholarship competition. However, it may be taken during the freshman and sophomore years for practice and test awareness. The Foothill High School code number is 050213. Registration information will be available in September. FOOTHILL HIGH SCHOOL ADMISSION POLICY All admission policies and practices at Foothill High School are non-discriminatory. Classes are open to all students without regard to race, color, national origin, sex or handicap. Some classes require completion of a prerequisite in order to enroll. Students are encouraged to select courses based on career needs and personal preference. Classes in vocational areas such as Business and Industrial Technology are valuable for all students; therefore, both boys and girls are encouraged to enroll. |
